Depends on where you live. If you live on the West Coast the very best snow would be in Utah. Depending on which state you live in if you are a beginner though anywhere would be cool. If you live in the Pacific Northwest like i do there are a myriad of ski areas. With Whistler/Blackcomb being probably the best beginner mountain around. You can ride the lifts to the top of the mountain and find easy routes down. The best month to go would be January or February. If you are planning on buying all of your gear look at spending between 1000 and 2000 dollars. If you want to rent you can get some nice ski packages that will have lodging Lift tickets and gear rental. 3-4 days at Whistler with everything included will run about 1200 or so. Good luck skiing is an awesome sport.

The best place would be the closest to where you live. As a beginner, you don’t need a big mountain to learn on, and they are typically less expensive than the "big name" resorts. However, if you have some choices of where to go, look at the ski school programs that are offered (take lessons…you’ll be glad you did!) Also, I recommend renting at the mountain; that way any equipment problems can be fixed right away instead of having to drive back to an off-site rental facility.
