The first Winter Olympics didn’t have Alpine Skiing as an event, it did however have Cross Country (Nordic) Skiing. Thorleif Haug won the first ever skiing Gold Medal on January 30th, 1924 for the 50km Cross Country event.
The first Alpine Gold Medal was won by Christl Cranz on February 8th 1936 in the women’s combined. One day later, Franz Pfnür won the same event for men.
