Do I Have to Get New Goggles for Night Skiing?
Your Questions
I joined ski club this year and I haven’t been night skiing since I took weekly lessons four years ago. I have red tinted goggles right now. The mountain has bright lights on every trail. Do I have to buy new clear goggles or are my current ones fine? I know that it’s not necessary to wear any goggles but with my contacts, I like to wear them so I don’t get snow in them causing them to fall out. Thanks!

Do you HAVE to buy new goggles? No, but clear will be better.
Try your existing goggles. Don’t buy new ones unless you like night skiing. I hate it.

the goggles wont be the issue. its the lens u might need to change out. u can purchase specific tints of lenses probs like alot of places but u will want clear (no tint) and the worst kind of tint for the night skiing (especially when its snowing) will be the reflective ones or the really darkones. other ones (second best) that will be good is the yellow-ish tint one.

I’ve found a very lightly tinted amber lens works best under the lights. Some people will say clear, and some will say red or yellow, and some people will say light grey…it’s all a matter of what works best for you. I’ve tried all of those colors and amber is what worked best for me. I will say that a polarized lens will make a world of difference cutting down the glare. This helps immensely when navigating moguls and features in the park.
Before you go dropping cash on new lenses, try the ones you have first and borrow a buddy’s (or a couple of buddies’) lenses/goggles and see what’s good for you.
